 Chapter 42.

The Dao generates the one, the one generates the two, the two generate the three, the three generate the myriad things.

The myriad things lift yin and enfold yang, saturated in information by means of this harmony.

It is the abhorrence of the People to be orphaned & alone, in poverty, and hungry, and kingly justice is made by means of this evaluation.

So, when things are deficient then augment them, when they are abundant then diminish them.

The teachings of the people, I also teach thus.

The tyrannical are not able to find a natural death, my charge is made by way of the teachings of my forefathers.
